Suraj Mal, a historical figure associated with the Jaat community, was born in 1707 and belonged to the Sinsinwar clan of Jaats.
He succeeded his father, Badan Singh, and became the ruler of Bharatpur.
Suraj Mal expanded the Jaat kingdom by capturing important territories like Agra, Delhi outskirts, and Mathura. He fortified the famous Lohagarh Fort in Bharatpur and played a key role in protecting his people and opposing Mughal oppression.
Known as the "Plato of the Jaats," Suraj Mal introduced several welfare measures, successfully resisted invasions, and established Bharatpur as a significant power in northern India.
