Swedish Member of Parliament Rickard Nordin (C) has requested the finance minister to consider adding Bitcoin to the country's foreign exchange reserves.
Nordin's written question highlights how El Salvador and other nations have adopted Bitcoin as legal tender, and central banks worldwide are discussing its influence on monetary policy.
However, Sweden's official stance towards Bitcoin has been cautious, with Riksbank Governor Erik Thedéen previously stating that Bitcoin has no place in the country's financial system.
Nordin's inquiry aims to bring the issue of Bitcoin's role in national reserves to the political agenda and asks the government to assess the opportunities and risks associated with including BTC.
