Swiss ClimateTech startup Crosstown raises €2.5 million to run gas turbines on renewable fuels

  • Swiss ClimateTech startup Crosstown H2R AG secured €2.5 million in Seed funding to accelerate the deployment of its H2R Burner technology that enables gas turbines to run on 100% renewable fuels like hydrogen.
  • Investors in this funding round included 2100 Ventures, Climate Insiders, and Unruly Capital and SDAC, along with existing backers like CiRi, Voyagers, and the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFoE).
  • Crosstown's key product, a proprietary burner technology, can reportedly eliminate over 300,000+ tons of CO₂ emissions annually by enabling gas turbines to operate on zero-carbon fuels, with the capability to reduce NOx emissions by up to 85%.
  • The funding will also support Crosstown in expanding its technology to different turbine types, forging sales partnerships, and contributing towards decarbonizing gas turbines globally, aligning with Europe's push to reduce fossil fuel dependence.
