A Parallel Architecture recently completed the Terrace Mountain Residence in the Westlake Hills suburb of Austin, Texas, featuring a design that seems to defy gravity by hovering above the wooded slopes.
The use of materials such as concrete, steel, local stone, and dark-stained wood elements creates a muscular yet restrained atmosphere in the home, with selective openings offering framed views of Austin's daylight.
The main living areas of the residence are positioned above a sloping terrain, allowing the structure to cantilever over an infinity pool, while a reflection pond beneath the house integrates the architecture with the landscape.
The interior of the dwelling boasts a luminous volume housing the living room, kitchen, and dining space, with a minimalist kitchen featuring a marble island and hidden cabinetry.
