INS Studio has transformed a former medical laboratory into a multifunctional community space and local coffee shop called District 27 in Makassar, Indonesia.
The building's original structure was retained, and terracotta-tinted concrete was used for the exterior finish to blend with the surroundings and create a distinct visual identity.
The interior design features frosted glass blocks dividing the seating area, a central coffee bar for organization, and a reflective feature wall in a previously unused corner.
The project covers an area of 216 sqm, with manufacturers like Dekson, Ikea, Philips, and TOTO INDONESIA contributing to the design.
