Tesla's Australian division is currently focused on getting people to experience their cars, particularly the facelifted Tesla Model Y, amidst ongoing reports about CEO Elon Musk and his involvement in politics.
While there is a decline in Tesla's local sales over the past year, with only 500 deliveries in April 2025, the company is aiming to showcase the quality of their products to the Australian public.
On the other hand, rival BYD saw a significant increase in sales, selling over six times the number of vehicles compared to Tesla in the same month.
Tesla Australia country director Thom Drew emphasized focusing on the vehicles rather than Elon Musk's political activities, highlighting the recent launch of the facelifted Model Y with updated features and Cybertruck-inspired styling.
