A Delaware judge has ruled against Tesla CEO Elon Musk receiving a US$56 billion (A$86.5 billion) pay package, despite the company’s shareholders voting in favour of the landmark compensation deal earlier this year.
The court blocked the stock compensation package approved by Tesla shareholders in 2018, which would see Musk paid the sum over a 10-year period.
Tesla and Musk campaigned to ask shareholders to vote again, gaining approval in June. However, the recent ruling stated that Musk is not entitled to the pay package.
Musk has 30 days to file an appeal, and the decision could have larger ramifications for Tesla.
