Tesla has changed its lease policy to allow customers who leased its EVs to purchase them at the end of the lease, instead of using them for a ride-hailing network.
The policy, which began for Model 3 leases in 2019 and expanded to the Model Y, was changed in November.
Tesla has been updating ex-lease cars with software and selling them to new customers, rather than using them in a Tesla ride-hailing network.
Some former leasers are unhappy that their old EVs were not utilized for generating ongoing income for Tesla, but were sold as one-time transactions.
