Tesla has officially canceled the range extender accessory for Cybertrucks and will provide full refunds to customers who had put down a $2,000 deposit.
The range extender was aimed at giving the dual-motor Cybertruck an estimated total range of 470 miles, but the estimate was later downgraded to 445 miles with a delayed release date of 'mid-2025'.
Tesla removed the range extender from the Cybertruck configurator last month and has faced criticism over falling short of initial range and pricing promises for the electric pickup.
The cancellation of the range extender is seen as another setback for Tesla following lower-than-expected Cybertruck sales in 2024 and a 13 percent decline in sales for the first quarter of 2025 across the Tesla lineup.
