Tesla has officially scrapped the Cybertruck range extender and is refunding $2,000 deposits to customers who opted for the $16,000 battery pack.
The range extender was aimed to address Tesla's failure to meet promised ranges for the Cybertruck, offering an additional 120 miles to the vehicle's range.
Originally scheduled for launch in early 2025, then rescheduled to mid-2025, Tesla's decision to discontinue the range extender means depositors will not receive the product.
The Cybertruck, introduced in 2019 with delays in production, has faced challenges such as low sales, quality issues, high pricing, and increased competition, impacting Tesla's overall sales performance.
