<ul data-eligibleForWebStory="false">Tesla is suing former Optimus engineer Jay Li for allegedly stealing trade secrets.Li is accused of taking confidential files from Tesla to help his startup, Proception.Tesla claims that Proception used the stolen files to expedite the development process of robot hands.Li worked on the Optimus sensor team at Tesla from 2022 to 2024.He allegedly downloaded files related to robotic hand research before leaving the company.Proception was founded just six days after Li departed Tesla.Tesla says Proception's robotic hands bear similarities to its own Optimus design.Tesla is seeking monetary damages and a court order against Proception.This is not the first time Tesla has filed a lawsuit over trade secret theft.In another case, Tesla accused Klaus Pflugbeil of stealing battery-related secrets.Pflugbeil was arrested and sentenced to two years in prison.Tesla is represented by lawyers from Gibson Dunn & Crutcher in this case.The lawsuit is titled Tesla Inc. v.
