Tesla is set to lose 64 Superchargers on the New Jersey Turnpike after the NJ Turnpike Authority's decision not to renew its contract with the automaker.
The NJTA chose a sole third-party charging provider and requested Tesla to decommission all 64 Supercharger stalls on the turnpike.
Despite the decision, Tesla has been preparing for this for three years by building 116 Superchargers nearby to continue providing charging infrastructure.
Tesla expressed disappointment in the decision as it hampers EV adoption goals and offered to invest in Turnpike sites if the decision is reversed.
