Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that SpaceX has received a $17.3 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund.
The grant will be used to expand SpaceX's Bastrop complex and develop its semiconductor research and development facility, creating over 400 jobs and over $280 million in capital investment.
SpaceX plans to grow its Bastrop site by one million square feet over the next three years, making it the largest PCB and PLP facility in North America.
Both SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell and Texas Governor Abbott expressed their support and praised the expansion for its contribution to Texas' high-tech manufacturing and connectivity.
