<ul><li>Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, has banned state employees from downloading, installing, or using several Chinese applications on government-sanctioned devices.</li><li>The banned Chinese AI and social media apps include DeepSeek, RedNote, Lemon8, as well as Chinese stock-trading platforms like Moomoo, Tiger Brokers, and Webull.</li><li>Governor Abbott cited data privacy and national security concerns as the reasons behind the ban.</li><li>Texas is the first U.S. state to ban DeepSeek, which has also been banned by the U.S. Navy, Congress, the Pentagon, the Finance Ministry, and NASA, among others.</li></ul>
