A federal judge upheld a $300,000 jury award for a SkyWest Airlines parts clerk who endured a sexually hostile work environment.
The court found there was sufficient evidence for a reasonable jury to award punitive damages and concluded that SkyWest did not make a good-faith effort to comply with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
SkyWest's bid for a new trial based on alleged prejudicial errors was denied by the court.
This decision follows a $2.17 million jury verdict in favor of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the clerk, which was reduced to $300,000 to comply with Title VII's statutory cap.
