Titled HO–MA–GE, a charred pine tree, stripped and sculpted, rises from the earth like a mythic relic at Ekies All Senses Resort in Chalkidiki, Greece.
Thanos Zakopoulos, known for his multidisciplinary approach, created the site-specific art installation using fire and metallic mesh to pay tribute to the Mediterranean Pinus Pinea, symbolizing resilience and ecological cycles.
The artwork reflects Zakopoulos's philosophical perspective on the human-nature relationship through material memory and natural cycles, with the metallic foliage gradually transforming into a symbol of healing and regeneration.
Set against the backdrop of Ekies Resort's biophilic design and ecological ethos, HO–MA–GE stands as a glowing reminder of the significance and fragility of the Mediterranean pine in a region threatened by wildfires.
