CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, has released a blueprint for the successor of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).The new particle accelerator, called Future Circular Collider (FCC), will have a diameter of over 56 miles, compared to the LHC's 17-mile diameter.CERN hopes that the FCC will produce particles that are heavier and will allow for new discoveries in the field of physics. The FCC is estimated to cost $16 billion and will require an independent review and a decision from CERN's member countries in 2028.
