The best Apple Watch in 2024
- Apple currently sells three models of smartwatches - the Series 10, the Ultra 2 and the SE.
- The Series 10 is the best Apple Watch for most people and also considered the best smartwatch you can buy from any brand.
- The latest Apple Watch Series 10 has an S10 SiP chip with a four-core Neural Engine, while the Ultra 2 has an S9 SiP chip. The SE still relies on the S8 SiP.
- Both Series 10 and Ultra 2 take an ECG and have temperature sensors. All three models have a compass and altimeter, but Ultra 2 has dive features including a depth gauge.
- The Apple Watch Ultra 2 has an onboard SOS siren. Series 10 and Ultra 2 supports fall-detection and crash-detection as a safety feature.
- The wide-angle OLED display and always-on feature on the Series 10 lets you see the display from more angles. The Ultra 2 also has an always-on display, but you'll have to lift your wrist to tell time or read notifications on the SE.
- Apple Watch Ultra 2 can last for claimed 36 hours on a charge. Both the Series 10 and the SE are rated by Apple to go for 18 hours before they need a visit to the charger, and longer when using battery saver mode.
- All three Apple Watches have similar fitness tracker chops and supports near field communication, the chip that enables Apple Pay.
- Apple Watches having onboard processing for Siri requests executes simple requests like starting workouts and timers quicker. But, requests like sending texts or getting weather forecasts still need to communicate with Wi-Fi or cellular.
- The price of Apple Watches vary from $250 for the Apple Watch SE (40mm, GPS-only) to $799 for the Apple Watch Ultra 2 with GPS and cellular power.
