Nissan and Mitsubishi, facing challenges in the automotive industry, plan to utilize their alliance for new model launches to recover.
The third-generation Nissan Leaf, now a crossover, will form the basis of a new Mitsubishi-badged EV expected to be available in the US by summer 2026.
The upcoming Nissan electric crossover will ride on the CMF-EV platform, feature NACS charging port compatibility with Tesla's Supercharger network, a 0.26 drag coefficient, 19-inch wheels, and a panoramic sunroof.
In exchange, Nissan will receive a Mitsubishi plug-in hybrid model, likely a rebadged Outlander PHEV as a Rogue PHEV, alongside a range-extender technology Rogue set to launch later this decade.
