Nissan is considering moving Sentra production to the United States to avoid US President Donald Trump's 25% tariff on cars imported from Mexico and Canada.
Despite Nissan's global struggles, Sentra sales were up 36.1% in the first three months of 2025, becoming the brand's second-best-selling model in America.
Nissan may decide to build the Sentra at its Mississippi plant, while its new CEO is making changes to turn around the company by closing plants and introducing new products.
The company's plans include introducing a next-generation Sentra, a new electric Leaf, and a plug-in hybrid Rogue, with production of the latter in Tennessee.
