More than 100 countries around the world have established national parks as a badge of environmental pride.
However, a small handful of countries such as Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City, Singapore, Bahrain, Qatar, Somalia, and North Korea do not have officially designated national parks.
Reasons vary from small size and urbanization to political instability and different definitions of nature protection.
Some of these countries have alternative conservation measures like nature reserves and UNESCO biosphere zones.
