The iconic flaming phoenix emblem, known as the 'Screaming Chicken,' on Pontiac's Trans Am rose from the dead to become its trademark.
Designer Bill Porter drew inspiration from Hopi art and a Tiffany vase to create the updated bird logo for the 1970 Trans Am.
Initially facing negative feedback, the idea was revived two years later by designer John Schinella, leading to positive reactions and eventual acceptance.
The phoenix decal became synonymous with Trans Ams, lasting until 1981, and continues to be a recognizable symbol of the muscle car era.
