- RPS Advent Calender 2024 is underway, revealing one favorite game each day leading up to Game of Year on Dec 24th.
- Helldivers 2 is a top-down shooter with clumsy controls, friendly fire, slapstick and aliens.
- Despite being an over-the-shoulder shooter, it retains studio's personality.
- The game has not adopted the live service grind and players can unlock weapons and cosmetics through play, or via a battle pass with their starting arsenal being as good as anything they'd get afterwards.
- Helldivers 2's missions are perfectly bite-sized and few blockbuster multiplayer games offer the option to finish few missions in a Helldivers 2 session.
- Arrowhead allows comedy to shine by making the actual encounters feel like serious stuff.
- The game has fascist forever war element, and Edwin suggests reporting it as automaton sympathizers, reporting major order failures as victories.
- 380mm barrage is a favorite in-game 'thing' of this year.
- Despite friendly fire in video games being always funny, Brendy is not very impressed with Helldivers 2.
