The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the US has implemented a badge-scanning strategy to determine job status, similar to Tesla's approach in 2024.
HHS is planning to cut 10,000 workers in an effort to reduce government waste and slash the federal workforce.
Employees had to scan their badges at security, and if their badges didn't work, they were terminated and instructed to clean out their desks.
The badge-scanning tactic has caused distress among employees, with reports of individuals leaving with tears in their eyes.
