In response to US bombing Iran, ChatGPT's Deep Research tool predicted a global "risk-off" reaction, recommending trades to make money from June 23 to June 26.
ChatGPT advised buying Lockheed Martin and Exxon Mobil due to expected benefits from increased military tensions and higher oil prices, respectively.
It also recommended buying gold and shorting Delta Air Lines and the S&P 500 to profit from geopolitical uncertainties.
However, ChatGPT's predictions did not perform well as Lockheed, Exxon, gold, Delta Air Lines, and the S&P 500 all moved in the opposite direction. In comparison, tech analyst Dan Ives's TAMPON trade, including Tesla, Amazon, Microsoft, Palantir, Oracle, and Nvidia, outperformed ChatGPT in the same period.
