The US government wants to break up Google over monopoly concerns – and Chrome and Android are on the chopping block

  • The DoJ accuses Google of making its search engine the default on smartphones and web browsers through illegal distribution agreements.
  • The European Union has also been pursuing a breakup of Google since 2023 over data privacy breaches.
