The White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has released revised policies for the use of AI in federal agencies. The new policies aim to shift towards a forward-leaning, pro-innovation, and pro-competition mindset, rescinding previous safety-related orders.Federal agencies will still have to appoint a Chief AI Officer, whose role is now redefined as an AI advocate rather than overseeing bureaucracy. The government wants agencies to develop an AI strategy within the next six months.
