[Raph] has created an extra-large, two-stage fume extractor that effectively sucks up solder fumes up to 10 inches away from its inlet.
The extractor features a built-in battery box for an 18V cordless tool battery and can double as a variable power supply using a cheap LM2596 DC-DC converter.
The extractor's maximum efficiency is achieved through careful baffle design and the use of 200 mm axial fan and 140 mm blower fan front and rear to move air through the 38 mm thick activated carbon filter.
All STEP files for building the extractor are available on GitHub, and a detailed build guide can be found on [Raph]'s blog.
