In 2016, Akash Dahiya and Abhilasha Negi Dahiya struggled to plan a vacation due to budget constraints, leading to the realization that many other travellers face similar issues.
A study by Grant Thornton found that around 40% of travellers abandon their vacation plans due to lack of funds.
To address this problem, Akash and Abhilasha launched SanKash, a startup offering travel now pay later (TNPL) services to travellers, similar to buy now pay later services for electronic devices.
SanKash has registered over 6000 travel merchants, including Thomas Cook, SOTC, Veena World, seven banks and NBFC firms, and has raised Rs 7.5 crore in funding in the last quarter of 2022, with an annual loan disbursement run rate of Rs 74 crore.
