A rare 1980 Corvette Duntov convertible, customized with a turbocharger by Zora Arkus-Duntov, will be sold at the Mecum Auction in Indianapolis with an estimated price of $30,000 to $40,000.
This particular Corvette Duntov is one of less than 30 ever built and is the only known example painted red, with unique widebody panels and custom features like a black convertible soft top.
The car retains its original numbers-matching engine with a rebuilt four-barrel carburetor, featuring dual exhaust, wire wheels, special Goodyear tires, and a red leather interior with unique inserts.
The new owner will receive a copy of the October 1982 Corvette Fever magazine featuring the Duntov convertible, despite initial criticisms, the car is intriguing given its historical context and engineering by Zora Arkus-Duntov.
