Tasmania's new speed cameras on the Tasman Bridge detected over 700 motorists breaking the speed limit in their first week of operation. The old speed cameras, switched off in the previous financial year, only detected 458 speeding motorists between July 2021 and June 2022.The new technology detects speeding vehicles in all bridge lanes and can capture multiple vehicles at once, acting as a strong speeding deterrent. The speed enforcement devices are now fully operational, allowing the detection of speed limit offences and issuing fines.
