Cognizant recently paid former CEO Brian Humphries a severance of USD 3.8 million (over Rs 28 crore), which is in line with the company's new policy of capping severance pay.
The severance payout for Humphries comprised 12 months' pay, a separation bonus, as well as a bonus and base salary.
Under the new policy, Cognizant restricts cash severance benefits to 2.99 times the employee's base salary and target bonus.
According to a company spokesperson, the severance policy for senior executives aligns with sound corporate governance and is consistent with the practices of other public companies.
