A new study has found that using wearable technology can significantly increase motivation for exercise.
The research involved 125 adults aged 40-75 diagnosed with type-2 diabetes who were guided by an exercise specialist.
Participants were split into two groups: one with smartwatches tracking activity and sending progress-based texts, and the other without tech assistance.
The group using wearable tech was 10 times more likely to exercise regularly throughout the study period.
After six months, the wearable group remained seven times more likely to stay active compared to the control group.
By the study's end, over half of the wearable group met recommended activity levels, while only 17% of the control group did.
Real-time messages from coaches during workouts further enhanced motivation in the wearable group.
The study's results suggest that wearable technology can play a crucial role in increasing physical activity levels and improving health outcomes for individuals with type-2 diabetes.
