This week on theCUBE Pod: The historic OpenAI funding round and Salesforce’s integration opportunity
- OpenAI raised $6.6 billion from its recent funding round, generating significant attention in the tech community. The amount of cash generated is historic, indicating a generational shift driven by a belief that AI is the biggest tech wave in the history of waves
- However, it poses some important questions for industry analysts. Will it be a $1tn company? Can it continue to dominate? What do they have to do to maintain their competitive position? Do they have to build their own cloud? Additionally, OpenAI has two years to achieve for-profit status; if it doesn't, investors can appeal for their funds back
- Though OpenAI's position is strong, it faces competition from Google. Google is hitting the next generation of developers that are in their 20s with its technology
- Salesforce Inc. recently unveiled plans for the future of Salesforce's agentic platform, which according to Dave vellante, co-founder of Wikibon, makes sense. Salesforce has struggled with integration in the past, but now has an opportunity given its strong ecosystem play for AI
- Vellante said he loved Salesforce's strategy. Salesforce now has a chance to integrate all the various components it's purchased for building out the harmonization layer and the agent control framework
- The Tableau keynote at Dreamforce is well worth a watch. The keynote describes what the future of BI is going to look like, what the future of the application stack is going to look like, and how integration should occur
