TikTok is set to launch a new American-specific version of the app on September 5th ahead of the planned sale of its U.S. business.
Users in the U.S. will need to transition to the new app version, with the current version expected to work until March 2026.
A consortium of non-Chinese tech firms, including Oracle, is anticipated to purchase TikTok's U.S. operations, with ByteDance retaining a minority interest.
The release of the new app version is expected just before the September 17 deadline set for enforcing President Trump's TikTok ban executive order.
