Tamil Nadu government plans to offer a high-speed internet plan with 100 Mbps connectivity at ₹200 per month to households by the end of 2025 as part of the Tamil Nadu FibreNet Corporation Limited's project.
The project involves laying 57,500 km of optical fibre to connect 12,525 villages with 1 Gbps bandwidth, with 93% of the work already completed.
The initiative aims to enhance digital access in rural areas and promote educational opportunities and equal access to knowledge.
To ensure last-mile connectivity, a franchisee model will be introduced, and 4,700 panchayats have applied for the last-mile connection.
