Tokyo's government is launching a dating app to boost Japan's declining birth rate, requiring users to verify their single status, willingness to marry, and annual salary.
Set to be available this summer, the app uses AI to match people based on shared values. This initiative targets the 70% of marriage-seeking individuals who do not actively use dating services.
Responding to a tweet regarding the same, Mr Musk said he is "glad" that Japan has recognised the importance of this matter.
In 2023, Japan saw more than twice as many deaths as births, with financial concerns cited as a key reason for remaining single. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has called for urgent measures to tackle this crisis.
