Tornado Cash, a cryptocurrency mixer accused of facilitating the laundering of stolen funds by North Korean state hackers, has been removed from the US sanctions list.
This follows a court ruling in November that found the US Treasury Department exceeded its authority in imposing sanctions on the platform.
The Treasury Department acknowledged the court's ruling and dropped the sanctions against Tornado Cash.
Despite the lifting of sanctions, Tornado Cash operations continue, and North Korean hackers still use the platform to launder significant amounts of stolen cryptocurrency.
