The Toyota RAV4 has surpassed the Tesla Model Y as the world's best-selling car, with a margin of fewer than 3000 cars, as reported by JATO Dynamics.
In 2024, the RAV4 achieved 1,187,000 global sales with an 11% increase, while the Model Y experienced a 3% sales drop with 1,185,000 units sold.
This marks a reversal from the previous year, where the Model Y led in sales. Toyota's success is noteworthy as it approaches the end of its current generation, with a new model planned for 2026.
Despite production pauses impacting Tesla's sales, the RAV4 maintained its lead. Other top-selling vehicles include the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Honda CR-V.
