Toyota has officially discontinued all non-electrified Corolla models in Japan to make room for more hybrids in order to comply with stringent emissions regulations.
In Europe, the current E210 Corolla has already gone hybrid-only, while North America will continue with the non-hybrid base engine for now.
Japan and Europe will have hybrid options like the 1.8-liter and 2.0-liter engines, while other countries will see a range of powertrains catering to local preferences.
Toyota is adding more standard tech features to the Corolla trims above the base level, which has led to a price increase, with an all-new Corolla expected to debut in Japan soon.
