Yinka Ilori's installation, Transparent Happiness, transforms the iconic mounds at Helsinki's Amos Rex museum into a vibrant space for public engagement and play.
The large-scale public art commission includes functional areas such as a playground, skateboarding trail, basketball court, and ping pong table, encouraging interaction and storytelling in Lasipalatsi Square.
Inspired by his Nigerian heritage, Ilori's work aims to create a sense of joy, communal spirit, and inclusivity by reimagining urban spaces and fostering connections among diverse individuals.
The installation is part of Amos Rex's annual series of public commissions, aligning with the museum's goal of activating public spaces through art, encouraging community engagement and dialogue on the role of public spaces in fostering connection and belonging.
