President-elect Donald Trump reportedly plans to roll back President Biden’s electric vehicle and emissions policies.
The plans include cutting off support for EVs and charging stations, imposing new tariffs on battery materials globally, boosting US production of battery materials, and axing the $7,500 tax credit for consumer EV purchases.
The reversal of emissions and fuel economy standards would lead to around 25 percent more emissions per vehicle mile and lower the average car fuel economy by about 15 percent.
Climate scientists emphasize the importance of transitioning to EVs in reducing carbon emissions and mitigating the effects of climate change.
