Uber has acquired an 85% controlling stake in Trendyol Go, the online meal and grocery delivery business based in Istanbul, for about $700 million in cash, giving Uber instant market share for Uber Eats in Turkey.
The acquisition of Trendyol Go is part of Uber's strategic expansion plans, as it aims to diversify its offerings and grow its presence in different sectors.
Trendyol Go, the food delivery arm of Trendyol Group, delivered over 200 million orders in 2024, generating $2 billion in gross bookings, showcasing significant growth in the previous year.
Uber's latest acquisition in Turkey comes amidst competition in the U.S. market from companies like DoorDash, which recently made significant acquisitions in Europe, including Deliveroo for $3.86 billion and SevenRooms for $1.2 billion.
