British chip designer Alphawave has agreed to a $2.4bn (£1.8bn) takeover by its US rival Qualcomm.The deal, valued at $2.4bn, is expected to complete in the first three months of 2026, with each share priced at 183p.Alphawave designs and licenses high-speed connectivity technology for datacentres and AI applications, areas of growth in the sector.The takeover trend of UK technology companies by US rivals or shifting listings to the US continues, with Alphawave being the latest example.
