Athita Pool Villa and Spa in Thailand, designed by Studio Miti, incorporates vernacular Thai architectural principles for its layout and material choices, fitting harmoniously into its historic and cultural context in Chiang Saen.
The design features brick volumes for public areas like the spa, offering a buffer from the street, while private pool villas are enclosed by timber louver panels, providing privacy and a connection to the environment.
The circulation paths within the site mirror the meandering alleys of local settlements, and the materials used reference the region's ancient city walls and religious structures, blending tradition with contemporary design.
The project, led by Studio Miti, focuses on spatial calm and contextual relevance, utilizing traditional architectural forms to guide the building's layout and maintain a connection to Chiang Saen's heritage.
