<ul><li>The Union Cabinet approved the Vibrant Villages Programme II, a central sector scheme with an outlay of Rs. 6,839 crore.</li><li>The programme aims to create better living conditions and adequate livelihood opportunities, ensure prosperous and safe borders, and assimilate the border population with the nation.</li><li>It will provide funds for infrastructure development, value chain development, education infrastructure, and diverse livelihood opportunities in select strategic villages along the international land borders.</li><li>Activities such as fairs, festivals, awareness camps, and promoting local culture and heritage will be organized to boost tourism potential.</li></ul>
