In the second major outage in less than a week, the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) experienced issues affecting several users across the country.
During the outage, more than 534 reports were received regarding problems with the UPI payment infrastructure, with users facing difficulties making payments on third-party platforms.
The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) confirmed the outage and attributed it to increased latency in the UPI network, assuring that they have been working with partner banks to address the problem.
This marks the fifth major outage for UPI in the past year, with previous instances being caused by intermittent technical issues, technical issues on the side of partner banks, and a ransomware attack on a technology service provider for banks.
