The U.S. App Store ecosystem facilitated $406 billion in sales in 2024, up from $142 billion in 2019, according to a study commissioned by Apple.
For 90% of sales, developers paid no commission to Apple, which includes digital and physical purchases.
Earnings for U.S.-based developers have more than doubled since 2019, with small developers experiencing a 76% increase between 2021 and 2024.
The study highlights various benefits of the App Store for both developers and consumers, such as global app distribution, app creation tools, payment systems, privacy controls, and more.
