US tech stocks recover after Trump says DeepSeek AI chatbot is ‘wake-up call’
US tech stocks rebounded on Tuesday after Donald Trump described the launch of DeepSeek's chatbot as a 'wake-up call' for Silicon Valley in the race to dominate artificial intelligence.
DeepSeek's chatbot, developed at a lower cost than competitors such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google's Gemini, caused a $1tn drop in US tech stocks on Monday.
Nvidia, a leading chip maker, experienced a record-breaking $600bn loss in market value. Other Asian markets also saw tech stocks fall.
