Uttar Pradesh's Banda district recorded the highest temperature in India at 46.2 degrees Celsius, with severe heatwave conditions expected till Sunday.
More than a dozen districts in eastern Uttar Pradesh also experienced severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures crossing 40 degrees Celsius.
The state government has advised district administrations to implement measures to protect residents from the heatwave and prepare for potential heat-related illnesses.
